Yellow Sky" we have a tale of the Wild West and a sheriff returning home on a train with his new bride. The following paper examines how the tensions and
conflicts in the story are reflective, or symbolic, of the struggles in the Wild West. The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky The story takes place primarily on a train
as a man and his new bride travel across Texas to Yellow Sky, Texas. They have apparently only recently met and yet there is a simple shyness about their obvious
excitement regarding their marriage. The man acts strong and intelligent and the woman coy and demure, as much as she possibly can. There is a newness about them that is
clearly reflected in some of the newness of the region itself that is part of the Wild West. People who lived in the Wild West in the early days
lived with a great amount of uncertainty. There were no solid laws or communities to protect them most of the time. It was a time of excitement as well as
fear. So, like the region itself we see the excitement and fear of the couple as they head off to the mans town, a town in which he is the
sheriff. Meanwhile there is a tension back home in the town where we learn more of the man, Potter, who is apparently a brave and perhaps ruthless protector of
the town. He is a man who always carries a gun and always seems to win. This puts a different face on the man in the train, and illustrates how
