of conflicts (strife, struggles, disagreements), the juvenile becomes a delinquent individual. According to Dr. Schneider (1998), social conflict theory has its basis
from an idea of Marx. The basis for this conflict is economics. This means that persons fight for resources. Even people in the same family fight for
economic resources. Different social classes have interests that are diversified. Schneider (1998) posits that crime and delinquency are a product of class conflicts. He said, "Middle and
upper classes want to preserve and impose their moral values. This contrasts the lifestyle of the poor. Just like in Mertons Strain Theory of Anomie: Poor people get
frustrated if they cannot achieve the same material status as other classes. Hostility of the lower classes toward a social order, they are not allowed to shape" (Schneider, 1998,
PG). Not only the poor are involved in conflict theory. Middle class and upper class individuals are as well. There is familial conflict in every social class.
The social class individuals want to become upper class, while the upper class want better. Conflict theory is oftentimes related to poverty and race, however.
