Just as Christianity evolved from Judaic roots, Islam was built on the foundation provided by Christianity and all three religions honor the Judaic scripture, the Torah (i.e., the Christian Old
Testament) as holy (Robinson). This is why these faiths are often referred to as "Abrahamic religions" (Robinson). An examination of these religious traditions show that they bear many similarities, particularly
in regards to how each these religions perceives the Divine. Islamic tradition holds that God has revealed Himself to specific Jewish and Christian prophets, specifically "Abraham, Moses and Jesus"
("People of the Book"). Therefore, Muslims accept the teachings both the "Jewish Torah and the Christian Gospels" ("People of the Book"). They also believe that both Jews and Christians have
strayed from the path presented to them by their prophets, and, therefore, God sent another prophet, Mohammed. But even though Muslims regard Jews and Christians as having strayed from Gods
path, they hold them in esteem over people of other faiths and have historically referred to them as, like them, "People of the Book," and allowed them to "practice their
own religions" within Muslim countries ("People of the Book"). In other words, Islam has historically acknowledged the close ties that this religion has with both Christianity and Judaism. Unfortunately,
throughout most of Western history, Christianity has practiced active and persistent racism against Jews, as European pogroms against Jewish populations are scattered throughout the centuries. Nevertheless, all three religions regard
the Divine in much the same manner, as they each profess faith in an omniscient, all-powerful God who is both loving and just. As Christianity and Islam perceive their religious
traditions to have evolved from Judaism, it can be said that each religions presents the same concept of one God. However, there are differences. Judaism asserts that there is one
