wide range of well-known brands, including, but not limited to Egg Beaters, Healthy Choice, Chef Boyardee, Orville Redenbachers, Banquet, PAM and Hebrew National. Looking at the range of brands
indicates that the company is one which is highly diversified with in the food market, and is supplying both the domestic as well as the commercial markets with a wide
range of food products and ingredients. This high level of related diversification has been a result of a long-term strategy involving a large number of acquisitions and mergers, which can
be appreciated by briefly looking at the history of the organization. ConAgra was formerly known as Nebraska Consolidated Mills (NCM), and was formed
in 1919, and first started international expansion in 1957. It was in 1971 that NCM changed its name to ConAgra Inc. (ConAgra Foods, 2010). The firm sees a major change
in strategy in 1980 when the process of acquisition starts with the acquisition of Banquet, in 1982 Peavey Company was acquired. Beatrice Foods was acquired in 1990 and in 1991
the firm mergers with Golden Valley Microwave Foods, retaining the ConAgra name (ConAgra Foods, 2010). The process of acquisition is set to continue in 1994 Marie Callender is
acquired, and in 1995 both Knotts Berry Farm Foods and Van Camp were targets of acquisition. In 1998 Ferdinandos Foods Corporation acquired, and in 2000 there is the acquisition of
