and more efficient than they were ten years ago, but the design has for the most part remained the same. What might the personal computer look like down the road?
It is 2007, and the computer looks rather modern, but what will the computer look like in 2097? Likely, it will not look like the typical models being used in
offices and homes today. It is hard to know what the computer of the future might look like. After all, computers do shape todays reality, but technology is introduced
with little or no comprehension of what it means for the future (Iscoe, 2006). An example is provided where in 1943, Tom Watson thought that the world would only need
maybe five computers all together at best (Iscoe, 2006). Today, many homes have at least that many computers, particularly when one adds up the game consoles and cell phones with
extreme capabilities. Computers are often responsible for many tasks around the home today. The new irobot is a case in point. Of course, it is the advent of the Internet
that really changed things and rendered the computer a necessity. What might the typical computer of the future look like? One observer of current trends reports seeing Bill Gates at
a conference and claims that the future computers will perhaps resemble a mere fountain pen ("Future PCs," 2007). Scientists today, particularly with the advent of Bluetooth technology, see computers being
