a company in this situation, a company that has a range of services in different insurance markets and several departments. There are four main areas of concern to the
company, these are the way that a speed sheet programmes may be of use to the company in ways other than accounting, the legal and social issues of computerising,
how computerising might give a bigger share of the market, and concern over viruses along with the advantages of communication between computers. Question 1 The immediate impression that
is gained when spreadsheet programmes such as Microsoft Excel are referred to is their function as an accounting tool. This is one major use, but it is not the only
use. The use of spreadsheet for account purposes includes management accounting, cost and cash flow analysis and budgets so these will not been considered. The uses of spreadsheets are
also useful for other aspects of business. The use spreadsheet may also be valuable in sorting information, such as names and addresses as a database, these may also be integrated
in with other programmes. For example, Excel is easily used with other Microsoft office products. However, other programmes such as database programmes my be more useful for tasks such as
this. The use of spreadsheet may also be useful in the analysis of previous investments, claims or business patterns. Whilst the following of investments may be better suited to special
programmes such as Microsoft Money or Quicken. However, with any issue where money is concerns there can be a valuable use for the presentation of figures in a variety of
