is referred to by the acronym CASE. Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) is defined as a collection of tools and techniques which come with the implicit promise to revolutionize analyst as
well as programmer productivity ("Oracle," 2002). The two primary delivered technologies are thought to be application generators as well as workstations, something that provides graphics-oriented automation in respect to
the development process (2002). That is of course one definition. Many definitions exist as to just what CASE is ("What," 1999). A broad and straightforward definition is as follows: "
CASE is the use of computer-based support in the software development process" (p.PG). That is rather succinct. One can expand on the concept, and look at CASE tools. Another
way to look at CASE is in respect to the idea that domain knowledge along with programing knowledge are equally important so that good software construction can become a reality
(Swigger, 1994). This of course has a great impact on the development of automated programing tools and while the concept of a total automatic programing environment is still by
and large rather illusive, several recent findings bring the fantasy closer to reality (1994). These tools which are considered CASE products are rather new and while in the past,
the terms automatic programming and CASE had been useful when describing any type of programing tool, it automated any part of the program life cycle (Balzer, 1985 as cited
