1. Introduction Economic development in any country has been shown to be strongly correlated with the way the financial markets operate. The development of stock
markets allow for the raising of finance and their performance may also be seen as an indicator of the countrys economy. However, there are a number of different ways in
which the financial markets can develop, these are likely to reflect not only the need of the markets but the underlying culture that influences and regulates the financial markets. By
looking at two very different counties that have divergent approaches to financial markets it is possible to see the differences and assess the way in which these differences may impact
on the way investors will choose to invest. Saudi Arabia is generally seen as an economically developed country, however current financial markets may be seen as fairly new, with
a limited scope in a complex economy. South Korea may be argued as a poorer country, with a greater need for economic development in many areas. However, the financial markets
are more open and developed with investors demonstrating very different behaviour patterns than those seen in Saudi Arabia. By looking at these two markets, focusing on the stock and bond
markets the similarities and differences can be explored and the considered in terms of the different ways that the investors behave. 2. Saudi Arabia This is a stock market
that has grown over the last decade, and has become the largest stock market in the Arab world (SAIR, 2007). The rapid relative growth compared to other Arabic stock markets
