the student and allows them to retain the information presented. Teaching has changed over the years and in recent times, it has been understood that other methods of
teaching may be improved over those in the past. It used to be that teachers stood before their classrooms relaying information that the student was intended to absorb.
While this is still true to some extent today, more sophisticated methods are also employed. For example, we now know that students often learn more easily through the
act of actually doing something as opposed to listening to the same information. There are other, newer methods which are often employed as well. It can generally be asserted that
there are different categories, or methods of teaching which can be classified. It is important to discuss these various methods in order to understand pedagogy fully. Essentially, pedagogy
is these methods since they are the tools the teachers use. What is Pedagogy? The literal interpretation is the art and science of education children (An Introduction to Andragogy
+ Pedagogy, 2002). However, the term often incorporates the profession of teaching and therefore a more complete definition would be that pedagogy embodies teacher-focused education (An Introduction to Andragogy
