a vast variety of subjects. It is interesting to note that in many ways, these philosophers are quite similar. They typically all have opinions regarding politics and religion
for instance. However, there are also striking differences between these notable philosophers which separate their philosophies entirely. The Similarities and Differences Between Kant, Descartes, Hume, Hegel and
Hobbes Kants big contribution to philosophy was his notion of "Copernican Revolution", which meant that the representation of an object makes the
object possible, rather than the object making the representation possible (Immanuel Kant, 2002). In other words then, Kant focused on making the mind and the person the originator of
experience rather than just a bystander who wasnt involved in such experiences. From Kants point of view, our minds were
the key component because without the knowledge by which to process information, the information itself would be entirely meaningless. Therefore, he believed that the mind was responsible for interpretation
and for perception. However, this got Kant into a bit of trouble with himself, because there was an inherent dilemma with this idea.
The problem which arose was that if the mind generates all perception, then is our understanding of something "real", meaning of the world, and how much
is real versus our minds own ability to generate "reality" (Immanuel Kant, 2002). Kant spent a great deal of his time and his life trying to figure this out.
