Plautus wrote, The Pot of Gold, which would become known as one of the greatest influences ever on Western comedy. Plautus had a
very distinct style that served to solidify the success of this play as well as his other works. The Pot of Gold, is told in a funny, humorous manner
that reveals the many insights into human nature that Plautus was clearly trying to establish. He used extremely rapid dialogue as a means of keeping the pace of the
play lively and also as a challenge to audiences. The end result is that Plautus is effective in being significantly entertaining, and therefore his message is able to be
relayed based upon the entertainment value of the work. Molieres, The Miser, is a five-act comedy based upon Plautus, The Pot
of Gold. The Miser is perhaps Molieres most satirical work, which is one of the obvious elements that closely links these two plays with one another. The character
of Harpagon is the counterpart to Plautus Euclio, but in many ways Harpagon is far preferable. Where the character of Euclio exhibits obvious extravagance, Harpagon is a character with
more depth. Harpagon is detailed to say the least, and in this way is very representative externally of that which he contemplates mentally. He is a miser, and
