valid and preference is a personal matter. Discussion The biggest difference between online and print versions of any medium is both obvious and striking: a reader holds the print version
in his hands; on online reader has to read the paper on a screen. This makes the two experiences distinctly different. There is a chance that an older person might
have some difficulty seeing the screen, or might be unfamiliar with the computer, and so would be more comfortable with the traditional print format. There may be other differences as
well. The issue under examination is the one for Fri/Sat/Sun January 11-13, 2008. The main headline on the print version is "Idol tries to get its groove back"; it occupies
the two center panels of the front page. However, the online version is completely different. First, it covers only one day, January 13, 2008, not the entire weekend. And second,
the story that occupies the choice spot on the front page of the print issue doesnt even appear on the web site. Another major story in the print version
is headlined "Most of $4.5B in Gulf aid unspent." It discusses the fact that most of the federal money "earmarked to replace schools, firehouses and other public works after the
2005 Gulf Coast hurricanes still havent been spent, a sign that key pieces of the regions recovery effort are languishing in red tape" (Heath, 2008, p. 1). This story, like
the one on "American Idol," is not on the web site. Or rather, it does not appear to be there. However, a search for the author "Brad Heath" turns it
up-it appeared on the site 2 days 14 hours ago, which indicates that the three-day format of the print edition covers a lot less than is available in the electronic
