Miro would always draw his greatest inspiration from his Spanish heritage and surrounded by the landscape which reminded him of his happy childhood. Although he celebrated his Spanish roots,
Miro was hardly bound by convention. From his earliest youthful forays into painting, Miro aspired to "create an art that would transform particularities of place into a universal form
of expression" (Joan Miro: Visionary Artist and Master Craftsman 40). Eleven years after Joan Miro was born, another individualistic artist made his first appearance. Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dali was

proficiency for painting early, and was imitating the intricate brushstrokes of Impressionists by the age of eight (Baatz Salvador Dali, the Painter). Dalis father was employed as a notary,
