of the Lambs was a chilling novel written in 1988 by Thomas Harris and turned into a suspenseful thriller by director Jonathan Demme in 1991. It was the tale
of a dedicated FBI trainee, Clarice Starling, and her efforts to get catch a serial killer, known only as Buffalo Bill, by probing the dark labyrinth of his psyche.
Starling is very much a woman and is to the rules and regulations of a patriarchal federal government, which is depicted in the film as more like a boys club.
On the basis of her gender, Starling is expected to remain on the outside looking in. However, Starlings strong personality would not allow her have men dictate her
every action without standing up for herself. Clarice Starling was intent not only to survive in a mans world, she would do it on her own terms, without sacrificing
her femininity in the process. FBI Behavioral Science Bureau Chief Jack Crawford is hot on the trail of a predator who skins his female victims alive. The Bureau is
seriously short-handed, and in desperation, he enlists Starlings services. In the novel, Starling is portrayed as an ambitious and no-nonsense type woman whose "self-interest snuffled ahead like a keen
beagle. he smelled a job offer coming--probably the drudgery of feeding raw data into a new computer system... but she knew what happens to a woman if shes ever
