each and every citizen in the interests of both community welfare and existence (2000). In order to close the gap between citizens and police, citizen police academies have evolved.
With these academies, local police departments help to educate people in the community by running a variety of programs. By embracing Citizen Police Academies (CPA), police officers are able to
maintain a relationship with the public by involving citizens in crime prevention efforts, and CPAs provide the public with a working knowledge of their law enforcement agencys mission, operation, policies,
and personnel (Aryani & Garrett, 2000). They further are able to create mutual trust and cooperation between the police and residents and so it has become quite prevalent for
law enforcement agencies to reap benefits of CPAs to their communities (2000). Hence, CPAs have been incorporated into community-oriented policing strategies (2000). By and large, this has been
a grass roots effort. However, not too long ago, the President committed approximately $1.3 billion for a 21st Century Policing Initiative that includes funding for community-based partnerships like CPAs (Aryani
& Garrett, 2000). Law enforcement agencies can also obtain information in respect to CPAs from several sources but in establishing a successful CPA, a lot of work is required
