It is not something to shrug off for the other guy to do. Each person must stand up and take action. This includes institutions. Community colleges may be among the
best institutions to take action because they are able to make changes more quickly than many other organizations. Their changes in power consumption can make huge differences in the total
amount consumed in their area. Many community colleges have taken the leap. They have developed and implanted plans and project to reduce their carbon footprint and to reduce the
electricity they use. Many are using solar panels, some are also using geothermal systems, and a few are using wind turbines. Most has dramatically decreased the amount of electricity they
purchase from outside sources. At least does not use any outside electricity. This is an important step for all community colleges to take. Besides being good for
the environment, they will save millions of dollars. Theoretical and Conceptual Framework The theoretical and conceptual framework is collaborative inquiry. Using collaborative inquiry, teachers (or students) work together
to identify challenges, analyze data, and test solutions, such as instructional approaches (David, 2008). The theoretical basis states that people working together will be able to find better and more
