(Dictionary.com, 2004). From this we can see communication can take place in a range of conscious and unconscious models, either directly or indirectly. This may also take place in
a unilateral manner, one to one, or one to many, or a bilateral manner where there is communication between parties rather than one way communication. WE also have to remember
the way that communication may also be formal or informal, and vertical or horizontal. Many of the theories may concern all types of information flow.
However, for communication to be effective it needs to be understood by the people whom the ideas are being communicated to. This is the same, regardless of
the type of communication we are considering, such as marketing or management functions. There is a communication failure when the message is not communicated and the meaning understood correctly. There
are three main methods of the communicating failing, this may be a breakdown with the sender, a breakdown with the method or a recipient breakdown.
Where there is a sender breakdown this means the error or cause of the failure is with the sender. Many potential barrier exist, such as trying to
communicate too much information that cannot be absorbed by the receiver, misjudging the language that is used, or even speaking to quickly. These may also result in the message to
fail at this stage. The method may also indicate a failure. For example, where there are complex instructions these may be best
in a written medium, whereas where there is a daunting task written instructions may be off putting and as such simple verbal instructions be more effective. In terms of sending
