messages, or information, as by speech, signals, writing, or behavior" (dictionary.com, 2008). The process
of communication is not limited to a single medium; it can take place through different means, not only writing and words, but also body language, signs and signals. Looking at
the animal world there are many examples of communication in the animal world, where there are physical or behavior actions that may not include verbal communication. It is the way
that groups are formed; relationships are created and even needed in order to ensure the continuation of the species. The human animal may be more complex, and have a
vast array of communication tools available, not only in terms of language. The way that we walk, dress and interact are all forms of communication, and as such, if individuals
are seen as part of a larger social system, and operating within that system communications will play an important role in the way interaction takes place and how others perceive
each other and feel about the interaction. When considering communication in terms of groups and team building, negotiation, decision making and performance measurement the same basic elements are present,
but the way it can impact and the value can be considered by looking at the application. Within groups communications is essential, it
will impact on the way that the group pr team forms, and the way they interact as well as the approach that is adopted to any team of group goal.
