celebrations and feasts and all practicing Jews honor these days, participating in traditional rituals. This is a very old religion. Some argue it began with Creation, others say it began
with Abraham. We know that Moses, Aaron and Miriam led the Hebrews out of slavery so they were definitely Jews. These events are all recorded in the Tanakh with the
records being referred to as Biblical Judaism (Religion Facts, 2009). These records are considered Biblical because they record the events from Creation until the 4th century B.C. (Religion Facts, 2009).
This book is a religious historical record that includes the stories of the prophets and kings. Rabbinical Judaism, however, began in about 70 A.D. That is the year the
Temple was destroyed as was prophesied. This type of Judaism emerged from the Pharisaic movement" (Religion Facts, 2009). It had to have been a very difficult and challenging time for
the religion because Rabbis were attempting to interpret the Sacred Writings of the religion without a Temple. In fact, Jews had been exiled, kicked out, of their homeland. Even so,
they succeeded and from these studies came the Talmud and the Midrash. These two combined with the Torah represent the most Sacred Writings for Judaism (Rich, 1999). Many people seem
to be confused between the Jewish Torah and Talmud. The Torah is comprised of the first five Books of the Bible. These were written by Moses. The Torah includes Jewish
laws and traditions. There are two Talmuds, the Jerusalem Talmud and the Babylonian Talmud, the latter is more comprehensive (Rich, 2006). The Talmud is an oral Torah, it explains the
laws and other writings in the Torah. It is the Talmud that is studied by students of the faith, e.g., Rabbis, but it is very difficult to read. The Midrahim
