an interesting experience because it forces the viewer to concentrate on the visual aspects of the shows. Will & Grace is a half-hour situation comedy about a woman, Grace Adler,
who shares an apartment with her best friend, a gay man, Will Truman. In this episode, entitled "The Unsinkable Mommy Adler," the guest star is Debbie Reynolds who plays Graces
mother; the title is a pun on "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," one of Reynoldss best known roles. The show starts with Will and Grace having a conversation. Hes dressed in
dress slacks, a white shirt and tie (hes an attorney); shes in black slacks and a brilliant blue blouse with white collar and cuffs; shes also wearing several ropes of
pearls. Whatever theyre talking about is upsetting her, because she is making exaggerated facial expressions and head movements. His movements are much more controlled and slower; he is the anchor
for her storm. Then Jack McFarland (Sean Hayes) comes in; Jack is also gay and a good friend of Wills, though they are not romantically involved. Jack is imitating a
robot: his arms are bent at the elbows, hes bent at the waist and moving very stiffly. We dont know why hes doing this, but after hes made this impression
he reverts to his normal style of movement, which is bouncy and very high-energy. Debbie Reynoldss entrance is spectacular and encapsulates the whole "feel" of the show: she flings
the door open, comes in singing and does a tap dance. Shes wearing black slacks and a black top and a shawl; shes completely over-the-top. That in fact is the
