Logical fallacy #1: "One recent study--from the prochoice Feminist Majority Foundation--stated that one-fourth of all clinics they surveyed reported that doctors and staff members had received death threats" (Clinic killings, 1995; p. 3). This entire article was focused on how the staff members of abortion clinics are in serious danger and how the Catholic Church needs to reassess its approach. However, this was the only information which tried to prove that death threats were real. Logically the article should have used a great deal more statistics to make the point. Logical fallacy #2: "Troschs ongoing advocacy is a detriment to the lives and souls of others" (Clinic killings, 1995; p. 3). While this statement may have been logical were it to remain focused on the lives of the individuals, it is unknown if any such activity could threaten ones soul, thus making this an unfounded and illogical point. Logical fallacy #3: "The genius of the Catholic insight into the sacredness of human life--attested to with great clarity by Mother Teresa at a national prayer breakfast last February before President Bill Clinton and Vice-President Al Gore--is that it finds this value in all human life: even in its least apparently winning, least immediately recognizable, or least comely and readily lovable manifestations. This intuition is the source of hope for resolving the abortion impasse" (Clinic killings, 1995; p. 3). The statement can be proven as false for it assume that the institution "is" the source of hope, not "one" of the sources of hope. Logically this cannot be proved and thus stands as an illogical statement.
