they can remain in their familys home, which of course would clearly save money that would need to be spent on housing and food. But, that is not always an
option, and even when it is an option sometimes the benefit of going off to college is actually leaving home. A student could also live in dorms, rent an apartment,
share an apartment with others, renting a house with others, or belong to a sorority or fraternity where housing is handled. The following paper discusses the benefits and defects of
three options; living at home, living in a dorm, sharing a house with other students. College Student Housing Remaining at home:
When living at home, or remaining at home, the student can get a great deal of benefits. They are housed and fed for free in most cases. And, if they
are very close to their family, while also perhaps a bit nervous about really stepping out into the real world, the family foundations can offer a great deal of support.
When staying at home the student need not be worried about dealing with others on a day to day basis that would be expected in a dorm or a house.
The student is familiar with their "roommates" and thus does not have to have any additional stress concerning relationships when staying at home.
On the other hand staying at home can also stifle a young adults life and their pursuit of their own life. If they remain at home they do not
have the same freedom they would have if they moved out. They are still likely expected to keep their parents informed about where they are going and when they will
