give us something concrete to strive for as role models. In this sense, while I would like to talk about my own personal qualities and accomplishments as an individual and
a scholar, I cannot do so without recourse to the preeminent figure in my life, my inspiration and role model: my older brother. Throughout the course of my life, Ive
been blessed with a very diverse upbringing. Because of my parents careers as diplomats, Ive been able to live in a wide array of countries such as Italy, India, Ethiopia,
and the United States, and experience different cultures and peoples firsthand. While this diverse perspective has undoubtedly been of great benefit to me spiritually and intellectually, I can never diminish
the important role that my older brother played through all of this as a critical stable element, something that I could depend on and hold fast to, and that I
knew would not change from one day to the next. By fulfilling this position in my life, my brother has shaped the person Ive become today through providing a powerful
example of achievement for me to follow, through showing me firsthand how an ethical and responsible person should behave, and most of all for being willing to help me overcome
my own weaknesses and being willing to defend me as I fought my own battles. First of all, my brother has helped shape the course of my life by
providing a direct example of the kinds of achievements I hope to one day make my own. For example, he is just two years older than me, and yet I
