on using this paper properly! Introduction In Olive Ann Burns story "Cold Sassy Tree" we have an intricate view of a family in a small town. They are a
family, as well as a community, that undergo changes as they experience love and death. The narrator, and main protagonist, of the story is Will Tweedy, a young boy with
a knack for getting into trouble. Through is development we watch the events unfold and feel the people he considers to be family. In the following paper we examine the
character of Will Tweedy and illustrate how he is a major part of the development of the story by Burns. Will Tweedy In the very first chapter of
Burns work we note the innocence and excitement that is an inherent part of the character of Will. He begins his narration with the following: "Three weeks after Granny Blakeslee
died, Grandpa came to our house for his early morning snort of whiskey, as usual, and said to me, Will Tweedy, go find yore mama then run up to yore
Aunt Lomas and tell her I said git on down here. I got something to say" (Burns 1). We note the innocence and pure mystery in the boy when he
states that "Any time Grandpa had something to say, it was something you couldnt wait to hear" (Burns 1). In this simple beginning we know that Will is a
very likeable and simple boy. He is fourteen, but we see a stronger sense of innocence than is normally maintained by a fourteen year old boy. He appears, in many
