the need to modify production and distribution activities so that they have less of an environmental impact. Coca Cola is one of these companies. With the launch of a $100 million museum in Atlanta, the companys green initiative has become a better documented part of history. Cokes green initiative was a very visible part of the museums grand opening. It was, in fact, a part of the key note speech in the ceremonies. Coke is taking front stage in announcing that it intends to become one of the worlds "most responsible citizens when it comes to the environment and being green" (Prewitt, 2007, 92). Any industrial pursuit has both obvious and less obvious environmental impacts. Consider, for example, the construction of the Coke museum itself. The 62,000 square feet comprised by the building itself had to be located somewhere. While some companies seem to choose the most pristine ecologically-sensitive land for such pursuits, Coke is to be commended in that it chose to build its new facility on an "underdeveloped" part of an already heavily-developed area. While this was likely done more out of consideration of where the facility would attract the most tourists, it is to be applauded because it could have been built on land that is better left undeveloped. This development is further advantageous in an environmental sense because it is designed to significantly lessen the companys energy usage. Indeed, it stands out as one of the few environmentally sustainable buildings in the entire country and has been awarded as such by the United States Green Building Councils Leadership in Energy (Prewitt, 2007).
