Coke being the third most popular global drink. Other brands include Dasani Water, Minute Maid, Fanta, Lilt and Tab, with ownership of some brands only in select markets such as
the entire Schweppes range, Dr Pepper, Oasis, Evian and Gini to name a few, although the company has more than 300 beverages in its range (Coca Cola, 2003). The
main activities of the company is the manufacture, distribution and also the marketing of non alcoholic carbonated and non-carbonated drink both finished and also syrups and concentrates on a global
basis (Coca Cola, 2003). The company does not undertake any bottling operations, but does have interests in many bottling organizations, such as Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company S.A. Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc.,
Coca-Cola Amatil Limited and Panamerican Beverages, Inc. (Coca Cola, 2003). Over the last five years there ahs been increased competition and
the trends of the beverage market has been towards the healthier non carbonated drink, this was a market that Coca-Cola missed out on the purchase of Gatorade due to opposition
from the board, this was an asset that Pepsi subsequently bought very successfully. The company have had to develop new products, these can included a range of flavours cokes, most
recently Lime which have been added to the Vanilla, lemon and Cherry verities, as well as diet version; C2 and Coke Zero, these development have been necessary in order
to help increase sales in a mature market (Hooley et al, 2003). If we look at the financial performance over the last
