While it identifies the parameters of the study, which will include assessments of closeness and distance as necessary elements in providing daily care, it does not identify the subject population,
nor does it reference the fact that this study is of daily care needs for patients with terminal illness. The abstract for the article, though, is solid and provides
a comprehensive view of the research aims, the methodology used, the sample identified and the outcomes of the study. The introduction to this article provides an initial overview of
the problem or "phenomenon" of interest, identifying the fact that nurses commonly struggle with the process of dying and death. Because of the very personal nature of palliative care,
researchers maintain that one of the biggest challenges for nurses is to adequately respond to the dying process for the patient and family members while setting limits for the nurses
emotional involvement. This problem is stated unambiguously and is easy to identity. The authors also present it within the scope of nursing practice, defining the role of palliative
care nurses and also defining the limits of existing research. The authors maintain that previous studies identify the causes and consequences of the problem, but do not adequately address
the strategies that nurses are currently using to address these types of difficult situations. The qualitative approach utilized in this case was phenomenological and focused on the use
of focus group discussions to assess care team members views relative to the palliative care process. In both the introduction and discussion sections of the research study, the researchers
