conceived in the best possible way. In this future world, those born in a natural manner, and who may have genetic flaws, are treated as pariahs. Although the film is
science fiction, this along with other fictitious works demonstrate the problem of human nature and how people can become stigmatized by their genetic makeup. The questions raised by such inquiries
certainly creates a paradigm in which to view the problems cloning threatens. Cloning is an idea that appears to be positive on the surface. After all, cloning will open new
doors to medical progress, something that might lead to cures for diseases. The idea is also exciting. People like to explore as evidenced by early explorations of Christopher Columbus, and
newer ones such as the rockets that are launched into outer space. Cloning is a scientific step[ping stone leading to the full realization of human potential. At the same time,
while halting cloning may be akin to halting progress, there is much to fear as it respects the process. There are social implications of cloning. The larger question is, should
there be limits placed on science? Obviously, ethics come into play and they take center stage in the debate on cloning. II. Background Throughout the years, there has
been debate about cloning, but cloning success is only marginal at best. There had been experimentation during the 1800s, and talk of cloning mice during 1977, but it was not
