is perhaps important to note that in terms of historians changing perception of Cleopatra, "The changes in Cleopatras story can be traced to the changes in societys expectations of women"
(Lerman, 2009). The following paper examines the history of Cleopatra with a focus on the Roman historians interpretation. Cleopatra In looking at how the Romans interpreted and represented
Cleopatra it is important to first note something of her history, how the Egyptians presented her, and perhaps why the Romans interpreted her as they did. One author, Joyce Tyldesley
(2009) who is the author of Cleopatra: Last Queen of Egypt, "Her people regarded Queen Cleopatra VII (reigned 51-30 BC) as a living goddess, the earthly representation of the divine
mother Isis. Three hundred years after her suicide Cleopatra was still worshipped in Egypt." It appears as though other cultures went along with this as well as Muslim scholars treated
her as a very powerful philosopher, public benefactor, and offered her up as an author who wrote books on cosmetics and medicine (Tyldesley, 2009).
While some of the earliest legends were clearly not necessarily accurate, they did, according to Tyledesley (2009), "confirm that the Egyptian memory of Cleopatra was a positive one,
