Pictures represent life at a standstill; for a fleeting second, everything stops as the camera catches something that will never happen again in that very same way. The importance of photographs is their ability to keep people connected with family, friends and significant events with a visual image that helps them recall and appreciate their past. Not as important but still holding considerable value in a more physical way are sentimental items like jewelry. Trinkets and gems hold great meaning with some people yet not at all with others, and it is this separation that makes jewelry either very valuable or completely worthless. Many consider necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings and other trinkets to be a status symbol, therefore, they place a lot of worth not only on the price tag but also how the jewelry makes them feel a part of a certain social profile.
