2004). The eccentric group includes schizoid personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, and paranoid personality disorder (Larsen & Buss, 2004). This group of disorders is characterized as being different from the
norm (Larsen & Buss, 2004). The third group, or the anxious group is aligned with the following conditions: avoidant personality disorder, obsessive-compulsive personality disorder and dependent personality disorder (Larsen &
Buss, 2004). This final grouping is characterized as being fearful, distressed or anxious (Larsen & Buss, 2004). While the categorization created by Larsen & Buss (2004) appears suitable, there are
other ways to group the various named disorders. Another way for example might be to group the disorders by how the patient relates with other people. There might be a
group that is considered to be an Isolated Group due to their unusual behavior and beliefs, or simply due to avoidance of others. Another could be a Social Group that
to some extent conforms to accepted standards of behavior, and a third might be a Violent group. Violence and isolation to some extent may overlap. The groupings would be as
follows: Isolated Group: Antisocial personality disorder, schizoid personality disorder, shizotypal personality disorder, avoidant personality disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder. Social Group: Histrionic personality disorder, Narcissistic personality disorder, Dependent personality disorder
Violent Group: Borderline Personality disorder, paranoid personality disorder. The Isolated group contains antisocial personality disorder, schizoid personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, avoidant personality disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
