of the world. They address very different genres and themes and yet they are all clear classics in the world of literature. The following paper examines the importance of classics
as it involves works such as these. Classics In these works one thing that stands out in relationship to the classic nature, and importance, of the works is
that which involves a sense of timelessness. Although the stories may involve gods and goddesses, or take place in times long ago that the reader cannot necessarily relate to in
many ways, the stories are about human nature. In Homers work we are presented with a man of integrity as well as weakness. He is a leader, and he
has failed in some ways. But, at the same time he is a man who looks within himself to see what is right in terms of where his actions should
take him. He possesses weaknesses, but he learns and grows from his mistakes. This is a timeless and relevant reality that involves humanity from all times in history. In
Tolstoys work we are presented with the natural desire to be loved and to find love. We see the weakness of characters as they fall prey to that human weakness
and suicide because life did not work out well enough for a particular character, Anna Karenina. We are also given the strong experiences of love desired and not granted, love
found, and death giving a sense of rebirth all involving the character of Levin. We see the desires to do right, and the ignorance of wrong choices. Again, despite the
timeframe, the genre, and the region of the work, it presents the reader with timeless descriptions of people and their needs. With Aeneids work we are also presented with
