have better health than those of a lower class. The causes of illness are often seen as biological, with viruses and physical weaknesses determining the health of individuals. However, when
statistics are considers they do not show that the incidence is equal in all section of society; ill heath is more prevalent in the lower classes and the minorities.
There are many reasons identified for this. An historical reason may be seen in the living and working environment of those in a poorer household. Housing is gained with economic
power, the higher the level of disposable income the better the accommodation that can be obtained. Those on a lower income will be left with the housing not wanted by
other classes. The reasons the housing is not wanted may be a result of cramped situations, nearby health risks such as industrial areas. This has a duel impact, the environment
conditions may be less heath, for example asthma is much more common in inner city areas where there is a higher level of pollution. The closer proximity of the individuals
living in the also creates conditions where illnesses may be passed on more rapidly. There are also links between lower income levels and education levels. Health is also an education
issue, with greater knowledge better healthcare practices may be developed and also the warning signs of illnesses may be recognised. It is also likely that preventative measure will be better
understood. There is also the argument that those on a lower income are unlikely to be able to eat food with the same level of healthy attributes. However this in
