the concepts. The idea that there are class struggles in the world, and in America specifically, is something that is not refuted. Who does not think that there is a divide between the social elite in America and the working stiffs? It seems to be ever-present in the experiences of millions of Americans. For example, one can walk into an expensive boutique and be totally ignored if one is not wearing the right clothes. Even sales personnel know whether or not individuals are wealthy simply by appearance. Hair, makeup, clothing, mannerisms and speech are all inextricably tied to what is considered a particular social class. This idea has been exemplified by the new reality television show called Joe Millionaire. This "average Joe" pretends to have inherited millions of dollars but the reality is that he only earns barely enough to feed himself. In order to fool the contestants who try to win his heart, he is given lessons in terms of appearance, table manners, speech. He is given a new haircut, clothing and access to what money can buy. Yes, class is not inborn. It is learned behavior. While people in the world struggle to make ends meet, there are wealthy people who give no thought to dropping thousands of dollars at a charity dinner or going on vacations month after month. It is this discrepancy between the rich, and average person, that is at the heart of Marx and Engels Communist Manifesto. The Communist Manifesto is clearly a work of monumental importance.
