wars, but there are differences as well. Yet, in general, the Sudan Civil War is one that has displaced over four million from the southern area ("Sudan," 2005). Those who
escaped have had a hard time relocating and getting food for sustenance (2005). It seems that little investment in Southern needs has resulted in a generation that is lacking in
a variety of things from education to health care (2005). Some governments such as Ethiopia, Uganda and Eritrea have been quite supportive of SPLA and NDA and sanctioned
the overthrow of the Sudan government ("Sudan," 2005). Even the United States has been supportive. The support however has been indirect but there has been $20 million in funding
from the U.S. that went toward "non-lethal" military assistance in 1998 (2005). Although Eritrea is sympathetic to the cause, at least on the surface, there have been charges that
perhaps there is a hostility and the nation did provide arms and training to the rebel forces in Darfur and other groups (2005). In addressing this issue, it should
be noted that Sudan has two major cultures in its midst, one being Arab and the other Black African ("Sudan," 2005). However, there are many tribal and ethnic divisions
within these and so, it is difficult for all of them to get together and form large groupings (2005). The northern states involve much of the Sudan and include
many urban areas, and those in these areas are mostly Muslim (2005). There are a variety of tribes in the region (2005). The southern portion has a populous of about
