be proven that there is a direct correlation between the presentation of events in film and subsequent audience behavior, there is certainly anecdotal evidence to suggest that some sort of
connection exists. This paper is a preliminary examination of sources that demonstrate the pervasive influence of film on behavior. It consists of a brief review of the
sources to be used, two working hypotheses with regard to these sources, and a plan for completing the paper. Sources The sources for this paper, in no particular order,
are: "Medicine and the Movies: Lorenzos Oil at Centurys End" by Anne Hudson Jones; "Mass Media Influences on Sexuality," by Jane Brown; "Child Health in the Information Age:
Media Education of Pediatricians" by Mark Rich and Miriam Bar-on; "Message Movies: Do they deliver?" by William Johnson; and "Sexuality, contraception and the media." "Lorenzos Oil" is the story
of Augusto and Michaela Odone whose son Lorenzo was diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). They were told the disease was incurable, but refused to accept this; they did intensive research
on their own, despite the fact that neither had a scientific background, and developed a treatment known as "Lorenzos Oil," which saved their sons life. Compelling as the story
is, this article argues that there were several factual inaccuracies in it, and that the disclaimers about it were difficult to find, leading some viewers to accept it as completely
true. The author suggests that attractive and persuasive as the story is, presenting it in a way that suggests such results will be realized by anyone suffering from this
