of age in a time of crisis. Man vs. Man The theme of man vs. man refers to conflict that arises when there is dissension between the wants and
desires of two or more individuals. In the beginning of the novel, Ajihad, the leader of the Varden, is in a rage because his daughter, Nasuada, disobeyed his orders to
seek safety and instead fought with the Varden archers (Paolini 3). There is conflict between two sets of desires. Likewise, there is conflict expressed when Roran, in his grief
