Catholic Encyclopedia puts christology in even simpler terms by defining it as the "part of theology which deals with Our Lord Jesus Christ" (Maas). However, it is also true that
christology not only encompasses Jesus relationship to God, but also his "status as the one in whom humanitys common destiny is both summed up and determined" (Norris 2). The following
discussion of christology examines the ramifications of this doctrine on Christian belief and practice. Pauline Christology According to Pauline theology, the supremacy of Christian revelation over other manifestations of
the Divine and the perfection of the New Covenant, as presented in St. Pauls teachings, derive from the fact that Jesus was the Son of God (Maas). Paul makes it
clear that he comprehends this phrase not simply as a term indicating moral dignity or as a external relationship that began at some point in time, but rather as an
"eternal and immanent relation of Christ to the Father" (Maas). In his epistles, Paul contrasts Christ with, and also finds Him superior to, various spiritual leaders from the Old Testament,
including "Aaron and his successors" and "Moses and the Prophets" (Maas). Paul pictures Christ as being above the choirs of angels and asserts that God has made Him their Lord
