are each structured in such a way as to best address their particular spiritual philosophy. They have their own definitive systems of beliefs, hierarchy, principles, symbols, rituals, and celebrations.
There are many religions throughout the world, many of which began as reactions against prevailing attitudes. Despite their many differences, Christianity and Satanism do have similarities. Both
are rooted in what has become known as the Judeo-Christian tradition and have their own unique set of practices. Christianity can be traced back to Jesus Christ, who broke away
from Judaism by preaching his own sermons and teaching his own unique religious interpretation known as the gospel. He encouraged his disciples to follow the example of his moral
path so that their souls would achieve eternal life in the Kingdom of God. The roots of Satanism are a bit more difficult to determine, but are believed to
have originated in witchcraft, voodoo, and black magic of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and the ritualistic black magic attributed to Aleister Crowley back in the 1920s (Satanism). In
the United States, the true prophet of Satanism was Anton Szandor LaVey (1930-1997), who created the Church of Satan in San Francisco in 1966 (Robinson; Satanism). In terms of belief
systems and structure, Christianity begins and ends with Jesus Christ and the belief that He is the peoples savior, that He rose from the dead, and will eventually return and
