Whichever term people use, they are both correct in their own way. Historically, Zen Buddhism originates in the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama. CHRISTIANITY AND BUDDHISM: A COMPARISON
There exist great many religions in the world; some could not be any further apart in beliefs and principles, while others that are seemingly opposite actually have a significant number
of qualities in common. For example there are Judaism, Christianity and Islam, where even though the three religions appear quite diverse, they share quite a few collective properties.
Adding Zen Buddhism to the mix allows one to visualize the distinctive differences with regard to the three others. At the very basic element, Christianity shares a common bond with
regard to many other religions by which they worship only one god. Unlike so many other religions that divide their devotion among several gods, Christianity focuses the attention and
worship upon just one -- and they glorify the same god, at that. It is curious that while it may appear on the outside that this faith could not
be any further apart in its belief system to other religions, the fact that they actually do pay homage to one and the same Supreme Being is very interesting (Levins
01B). As a people, Christians are bound by the convictions that they are to possess honesty, respectfulness, charity, kindness and all the other benevolent traits so common among the
three religions. Even in the Middle East, apart from the integration typically found in the Western world, Christianity and other religions have not only come to coexist, but the way
