well as the social environment have been impacted. One area of consideration that has received less attention is that of the spiritual impact and opportunities offered by globalization. The Christian
church has a long history of missionary work, helping to spread the word of God. Globalization has created a number of threats to spirituality, with many traditional Christian cultures becoming
increasingly plural, as well as offering opportunities for missionary and witness work to take place in many other cultures where the dominant belief system is non-Christian. When considering the
significance of the rising pluralism, especially in the West (including non-Christian countries), and the way in which this may impact on the Christian witness it is necessary to look at
the concept of witness in the way in which they may be applied, in order to develop models of witness which may be utilized in an effective manner within these
plural societies. A plural society is usually defined as a society in which there are different ethnic communities coexisting with in the same region (Bilton et al, 2008). In many
instances different ethnicities tend to have a traditional association with specific religion, so when considering the context of a plural society and the application of Christian witness, it is not
the ethnicity that is the dominant feature to be considered, it is the religious affiliation. Within a plural society missionary and Christian witness were faces a number of different
