had vision. Using todays vernacular, Moses had vision when he was involved in succession planning. A vision for a church leader would most likely be expressed in a verse or
more from Scripture and how that would affect the leader and the church. For this student, that could be this: "I want to know Christ and the power of his
resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death" (Philippians 3:10). But, for the immediate future, it is the vision expressed in Matthew 20:25-28;
Luke 22:25-27; and Mark 9:35. Again all leaders were value-driven. Christian leaders who are value-driven today are much stronger and are able to maintain calm in the sea of storm.1
We typically each hold many values, in fact, the list can grow quite long and accurately so. some of the values this student holds to: simplicity, purpose, harmony, content over
form, concern for others, integrity, honesty, hard work, respect for others, continually improving, justice, and fairness. If we were to follow the principles of servant leadership, these would all naturally
be incorporated into our actions. The Book of Acts shows that the Apostles and the disciples followed through on this type of leadership. Servant leaders are serving God; they
are following Christs example and the examples of His disciples. In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul wrote about using ones Spirit-given gifts and talents in the service of others.
Christ exemplified all of these values and more. Paul wrote to the Philippians that they should not be considering their own interests, that their "attitude should be the same as
