Crowds gathered wherever He went, in villages, on the hillsides, in cities. They came to hear, to see, to ask. They came out of curiosity and they came to challenge
Him, to denounce Him, to trick Him with double-edged questions. They came to witness His miracles, to hear His parables, to listen to His words. They came to simply be
near Him. They came to taunt Him, to ridicule Him. Many followed Him on His travels. Others shouted He was a fake, a trouble-maker. Twelve gave up their former lives
to be with Him, to learn under His tutoring. Less than three years after He began His ministerial journey, He was arrested, tortured and executed by crucifixion. His teaching, His
death, and the testimony of His Apostles and disciples that He arose from the dead changed the course of history forever. Who is He who has had the most profound
impact on the world of His time and forever after? This is Jesus. From a historical point of view, Jesus was an ordinary Jewish resident who grew up in Nazareth
in Galilee (Attridge, 1998). He lived and died as a Jew and He had to have been influenced by the diversity and tension of Judaism that was going on at
the time (Attridge, 1998). Those who attempt to disprove the historical Jesus or the spiritual Jesus fail miserably. Edwin Yamauchi, an expert in ancient history, commented: "From time to
time some people have tried to deny the existence of Jesus, but this is really a lost cause. There is overwhelming evidence that Jesus did exist" (Strobel, 1998, p. 81).
