Among decision factors are supply chain considerations and characteristics of the countries being considered as potential host sites for the new production facility. Geographic Regions
Central and Eastern Europe, South to Southeast Asia and Latin America are the geographic regions being considered for locating the new production facility. All of these
regions feature a mix of countries in terms of economic development. The Organization for Cooperation and Development (OECD) defines a mature economy as one whose per capita GDP is
more than $9,266 (Definition of Emerging Economies, n.d.). Locating in an area of higher GDP can be preferable in terms of education of the workforce; infrastructure development; and other
broad considerations. On the other hand, locating in a less developed nation can provide cost benefits not attainable in a more developed one. For sales, Acmes technology products
are better suited to more developed economies. Central and Eastern Europe Central and Eastern Europe hold a mix of nations in various stages
of development. A few of the former Eastern Bloc nations have achieved membership in the European Union; others still struggle with the transition from command to market economies.
Each can claim a rich heritage distinct from that of neighboring nations, but overall the people are well educated and eager to work and infrastructure generally can support business activity.
