to choose that position there should be careful consider given to strengths and weaknesses, as the individual is likely to judge their own abilities and strengths from a highly biased
position. If a firm is going to expand and as such there is a need for change and as such strengths need to be considered. If the individual is strong
with people and has a strong focus on people may be best to head up a new department of division that is part of the expansion. This is likely to
include the need to manage existing employees that move into the new department as well as dealing with recruitment for new employees and managing the groups to create an integrated
cohesive team that can work together. To adopt this role there needs to be consideration of the management style that will be adopted, as this will need to fit
in with both the characteristics and skills of the leader as well as the needs of the firm and the department. There are a number of different models of
leadership. The first we can consider and apply to the situation of the firm and the division; it may be that the path-goal theory is applicable. This is an approach
that looks at the way leaders will help their subordinates achieve the goals they are set by ensuring that the path they need to use to achieve that goal is
