essay in which the student discusses why he has chosen a career in criminal justice. Discussion A student who is asked to submit a personal essay will write from his
own viewpoint. Doing so may produce a paper like the following: Being a problem solver while growing up was something that came to me naturally. Everything and everyone around me
had some type of influence on my curiosity to know what it takes to become an authority figure. When I was six, I recall my father leaving for a couple
of months. Then when he came back, I remember the smile on his face and his badge in his hand. It was the proudest moment for my family.
From that day forward, I knew somehow my future would revolve around the criminal justice field. I think that perhaps I will try to find a position in computer forensics,
since I love both computers and criminal justice, and have a lot of experience working with computers. I worked for Geek Squad at Best Buy and for Circuit City; I
also taught computers to the children at Boys and Girls Clubs. I also love mysteries and solving puzzles, and all of these interests seem to coalesce in this career path.
I dont believe that it will necessarily be an easy route. Levinson notes that anyone who wants a career in criminal justice has to ask themselves if they have the
