of more than 1.3 billion ("China," 2008). In fact, this country has struggled with overpopulation for some time. The climate is quite diverse as it has very warm temperature in
the south, but is it cold in the north ("China," 2008). While communist, China is considered to be a powerful player in the scheme of things, particularly as it respects
trade. China has been quite prosperous in recent years as it has utilized capitalism to an extent. While that is the case, China also deals with economically disadvantaged regions. One
report puts the "economically backwards areas" at about 25% of the population ("Overview of Education," 2008). In respect to country culture, China has unique characteristics. Hofsteed reports that China actually
possesses the highest power distance in addition to the lowest rate of individualism as compared with other Asian nations (Zinzius, 2004). Yet, Chinese culture differs enormously from that of
the United States, and other western nations. Zinzius (2004) explains that saving face is very important to the Chinese. The author writes: "One Chinese behavior that can be most shocking
is the seemingly baseless, sudden unreliability of Chinese partners and employees" (Zinzius, 2004, p.46). Clearly, the Chinese do not always speak their minds. Hence, they may react by rejecting a
partner in such a way that appears unreasonable. Zinzius (2004) writes: "Chinese place great importance on complying with etiquette, and they are always aware of their duties and obligations toward
their business partners" (p.44). Etiquette includes many things. People must dress appropriately. A modest appearance is quite important (Zinzius, 2004). Proper business attire should be worn, but it must be
in an appropriate context. It is not desirable to flaunt jewelry or an expensive suit for example, unless the setting is appropriate. Conversation is expected to be modest and polite
