practice, and in most cases is something that works well. However, the concept of childrens rights is an issue today. While civil rights have been granted in the 1960s, there
are rights of other groups that linger. A student writing on this subject points out that there are areas such as gay rights, womens rights and employees rights that have
not been fully addressed. In focusing on childrens rights specifically, it will become clear that children are not afforded the protection that they should have. Parental or state rights often
supersede the rights of children. Children should be protected or given more choices in certain situations. II. The Rights of Children While it may be true that parents
have most rights, children do have some protections. If there is a suspicion of abuse, the state has the right to take the children from the home, thus limiting parental
rights. Of course, the children have little say in the matter. That is, the state and parent may struggle for the best interest of the child, but the child may
not have a say in the matter. Interestingly, some court cases have cropped up in recent years where laws required natural parents to be awarded the children they gave up
for adoption. This meant that judges would award bio parents the children even though the children have known no one else but their adoptive mothers and fathers. It seems a
travesty of justice, but it does highlight the fact that children have little say in such matters. What rights do children have exactly? Children do have the right to
