1855 (The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia, 2007). The founding came about when Francis West Lewis, MD visited the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children located in London, and made
the decision to creat a similar hospital in the United States (The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia, 2007). Since that time the hospital has actually moved three times and then
in 1974 it moved everything to the location it resides at today, which is 34th Street and Civic Center Boulevard (The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia, 2007).
