several different types of immunizations that are generally required in relationship to a child going to school, and some immunizations that are apparently optional in most cases. The following paper
examines childhood immunization. Childhood Immunization The following list is a list of immunizations that are generally given to all children in the United States: "Chickenpox, Diphtheria and tetanus
toxoids and acellullar pertussis (DTaP), Hepatitis A and B, Haemophilus influenza (Hib), Measles, mumps and rubella, Pneumococcal, Polio", and "Tetanus and diphtheria toxoid and acellular pertussis (Tdap)" (Health A to
Z, 2007). There are also immunizations for Influenza and for the Human Papillomavirus, although this last immunization is generally given to young women from the age of 16 into their
mid-20s and as such will not be discussed herein. This particular immunization or vaccine is also relatively new and as such demonstrates some of the changes in childhood immunization. One
author further illustrates changes and childhood immunization in the following: "These [changes] include dividing the immunization schedule into two parts (i.e., ages birth to six years and seven to 18
years, with catch-up schedules for each group); expanding the recommendations for influenza vaccine to children ages six months to 18 years without risk factors; expanding coverage for hepatitis A vaccine
to include all children at one year of age; initiating routine immunization with oral rotavirus vaccine given at ages two, four, and six months; and adding a booster dose of
